Ljubljana has surprisingly many bridges for such a small city, and they are all beautiful. The Triple Bridge is the most popular and is located in the centre of Ljubljana, next to the Presernov Trg.

The bridge consists of three separate bridges originally built by Jože Plečnik in 1842, who redesigned it in the 1930s and made it one of many modern attractions. And we can’t forget the Dragon Bridge, Butcher’s Bridge, and Cobbler’s Bridge…..like said, a lot of bridges, but all picture perfect.

5. Taste a 40-year-old burek recipe

In Ljubljana, you have the opportunity to try burek, a traditional dough that can be filled with cheese, apples, spinach, and beef, is crispy on the outside and nicely doughy on the inside. It can make for a great breakfast because it’s easy to eat on the go or an excellent way to cap off a party. 

Olimpija Burek has been selling quality burek in Ljubljana for over 40 years. The bakery is widely known and is the best place to get burek in the city. Trying it is a must!

6. Enjoy various types of cuisine at Odprta Kuhna

Indian, Mexican, Slovene, Asian, Balkan, they go it all! During the summer months, you can eat exceptional food from all over the world at Odprta Kuhna. It takes place every Friday at the local market and offers food made right in front of you.

7. Spend a night at a former political prison

One of the coolest places to stay in Ljubljana is Hostel Celica, which was formerly used as a prison. It now serves locals and travelers while being an artistic space with unusual, but peaceful accommodations. Rooms and dorms are made out of old prison cells that have been renovated. The individual cells come from different artists who designed them in a way that reflects their experiences, including those of the former prisoners during the communist time.

8. Have a picnic in Tivoli Park

The Tivoli City Park is a gorgeous green area, easily accessible from downtown Ljubljana. The park stretches right into the city and is a great place to get away from the busy downtown of Ljubljana.

It’s full of fountains, art exhibitions, and cute spots to enjoy a sunny day. And personally the best part? Many dogs! Go sit down to observe nature, and I guarantee you that at least one dog will come up to you running and wanting to play.

Since Ljubljana is small but beautiful, it would take you 2 days to fully discover it, but since it has a lot to offer and a lot to do, we recommend 3 to 4 days. You won’t regret it!
